"...one of those rare horror novels; a story that
keeps you not quite sure what the ending will be until
you get to the last page. This reviewer is one of the
loyal X-Files ‘crowd’, and Ms. Andre definitely
handled the story of El Chupa better than Mulder did.
Peopled with interesting characters, from Amber’s
transvestite friend Will to Doug’s puzzle-loving
secretary Rachel, the story never loses pace. Events seem
to head in one line then veer sharply to the left. Just
when you think you’ve got the whole thing figured
out, Ms. Andre throws in another curve. ...if you are
uncomfortable with graphic violence, this is probably not
the book for you. While tastefully handled, Ms. Andre
spares nothing as she describes her grisly murder scenes.
...a gripping tale of psychological and physical terror,
and one this reader will probably read again someday to
see what clues were missed the first time through."
